da dif. btw waterlily & lotus?

Not only the symbol of lotus, which is like a real blooming lotus flower, has a deep meaning in Buddhism, but also lotus has become the flower of honour because in Buddhism it is described as the flower that “[l]ive[s] in the silt but not imbrued."

莲花=蓮の花=lotus
荷花=スイレン=waterlily
出淤泥而不染,濯清涟而不妖=Live in the silt but not imbrued.

What's the difference between waterlity & lotus?
蓮の花とスイレンはどう違うのでしょうか?
如果不一样,出淤泥而不染,濯清涟而不妖这句话形容的到底是荷花还是莲花?

[2010/07/07 18:17] Jerome Ronzales: tell us about the marshmallows
[2010/07/07 18:17] mikiti Galaxy: what's the answer of this formula
[2010/07/07 18:17] Marvin Macbain: Mrs. Smith, ladies and gentlemen of the press corps, Mr. President and first lady, my name is Stephen Colbert and it's my privilege tonight to celebrate our president. He's no so different, he and I. We get it. We're not brain backs on the nerd patrol. We're not members of the fact (police). We go straight from the gut, right sir? That's where the truth lies, right down here in the gut. Do you know you have more nerve endings in your gut than you have in your head? You can look it up. I know some of you are going to say I did look it up, and that's not true. That's but you looked it up in a book.

We both get it. Guys like us, we're not some brainiacs on the nerd patrol. We're not members of the factinista. We go straight from the gut. Right, sir?
[2010/07/07 18:19] Marvin Macbain: That's where the truth lies, right down here in the gut. Do you know you have more nerve endings in your gut than you have in your head? You can look it up. Now, I know some of you are going to say, "I did look it up, and that's not true." That's 'cause you looked it up in a book. Next time, look it up in your gut. I did. My gut tells me that's how our nervous system works.
[2010/07/07 18:19] mikiti Galaxy: plz tell me
[2010/07/07 18:19] Marvin Macbain: what is it, Jerome?

[2010/07/07 18:20] mikiti Galaxy: how about imaginary numbers?
[2010/07/07 18:20] IM: Simone Drasilova: nope
[2010/07/07 18:20] Marvin Macbain: the solution is all x
[2010/07/07 18:20] Jerome Ronzales: a what?
[2010/07/07 18:20] IM: Pet Mynx: he used to but i don't know if he still does, i don't think so

[2010/07/07 18:20] Jerome Ronzales: yes, and all across the seven seas
[2010/07/07 18:20] Zadkiel Birdsong: x is a real number, i is imaginary.
[2010/07/07 18:20] Marvin Macbain: it is obviously no solution
[2010/07/07 18:21] Jerome Ronzales: for god sake

[2010/07/07 18:21] Marvin Macbain: subtract 2x from both sides
[2010/07/07 18:21] Marvin Macbain: you get a false result
[2010/07/07 18:21] mikiti Galaxy: coz 2x in both sides can be canceled out
[2010/07/07 18:21] Marvin Macbain: that's all there is to it

[2010/07/07 18:32] Alaya Kumaki: sl lagg so muc, that its fit for sleep deprivation
[2010/07/07 18:32] Jerome Ronzales: here in ESA we dont have anything like that i guess
[2010/07/07 18:32] Marvin Macbain: Yes, mikiti. So, I suppose the inequality holds even if x is complex. But in general you cannot compare complex numbers eith a straight inequality.
[2010/07/07 18:32] Zadkiel Birdsong: Yeah, even better if you're drunk
[2010/07/07 18:32] Zadkiel Birdsong: Drunk gaming can be fun, lol
[2010/07/07 18:33] Jerome Ronzales: and banana cake
[2010/07/07 18:33] Marvin Macbain: You can, of course, compare complex numbers' magnitudes. That is what you would usually be doing in an inequality on complex numbers.
[2010/07/07 18:33] Alaya Kumaki: drunking and sl driving is risky
[2010/07/07 18:33] Zadkiel Birdsong: Yeah, esp on the racetracks. You need coordination
